Quite true indeed! I was more thinking about expressing Kinbaku through self tie but of course aerials are a good reference too. It's also an issue to manage to tie yourself gracefully on a ring, because the swivel makes it constantly moving ha ha

As I am still improving my tying practice, answering exhaustively to what challenges me in Kinbaku would be too long, but the first thing that comes to me is when I tie and suspend people who wants to try ropes for the first time but having no link whatsoever with the pain&pleasure culture. People not interested in the domination/submission part of the game but who simply wants to try the sensation of ropes on their body. Or even curious people but stressed to let go. Although challenging, it's an interesting experience where I tend to focus more on how to create the less pain as possible and make the person feel secure in suspension, if I can I try to make them reach the meditative state you can feel with ropes. Still it's not that easy to bring the model in this sort of subspace when I am require to be "neutral" in my way of tying.

I personally use more the wrap back method as Milla mentioned but as you all said especially depends on the person you tie and how they feel more confortable with.

Kinbaku came to me in 2016 during the summer, I just arrived in Paris to live my new life. First thing I did as an art student is to visit Guimet, the Asian Museum where a photographic exhibition was hold. There I discovered the work of Araki Nobuyoshi and though "that's what I want to do". So, indeed, to me Kinbaku is linked with art, but art as practice not as picture. It's a movement, nothing frozen. An intimate practice, very deep, uncommon, challenging. Very soon I saw shibari performances, I saw people cry, laugh, meditate, get excited. I saw a connexion, a conversation without words, or few. And, experiencing it as model, but especially as rigger and self-suspender -even with a level yet to improve- I explored life itself, intensity through restriction. The ability you give for someone to surrender. And shouldn't I mention beauty ? Quite surely in the techniques but especially in the energy, the emotion, of individuals towards the medium of rope.
